PONY RIDER CHAMPS IN FULL SWING

Equitation

Congratulations to Chelsey Gertenbach from GHS who won the Individual South African Championship.

Showing

Congratulations to the GHS Showing Team, who flew the GHS flag high by winning the
Team Competition on Saturday.

Eventing

The team event was fraught with problems for the GHS Team with one pony going lame and having to be scratched, and the other being eliminated in the country, resulting in the GHS Team coming last in the Team Event.

BUT CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR VERY OWN TAMSIN DANIELS

Who made up for everything by winning the Individual Title.

Opening Ceremony

This event was a great success, with lots of fun being had by the youngsters.

The Spirit Prize is being closely contested, especially between KZNHS, ECHS and WPHS.

Thanks to all involved in making the evening a success and especially to Sean Henderson for his fun anecdotal account of his rise to success.

6.00am - 8.30am
4.30pm - 6.00pm

If you are coming to shows at these times, please inform the guards
and you will be allowed through.

SPEED DERBY - A CHARITY EVENT

Incorporated into the Nissan 2010 Riders Festival will be the Invitational 1.30m SPEED DERBY.  The entry fee is R200, R100 of which will be donated to 'The Network of Caring' (click here for more information)  

An anonymous sponsor has sponsored a fantastic R10000 for the 1^st place prize.  Western Shoppe has sponsored a Showjumping helmet, and Uvex have donated a pair of Uvex Sport glasses for 2^nd and 3^rd place respectively.

LIPPIZANER NEWS

Father's Day Performance: Sunday 20 June
10.30am at the Lipizzaner Centre
We are planning a wonderful morning for all the Dads!  Lots of horsepower (besides the Lipizzaners!) will be on display.  Landrover Sandton will be bringing a range of their latest vehicles, the Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport and the Discovery 4.   Pretoria North Toyota will also be there with the Toyota Prada, Toyota Fortuna and the Toyota Double Cab! 

Join us in the courtyard after the performance for Sean O'Grady's Espresso, Capuccino, Hot Chocolate and Lattes, as well as Andrew's renowned Strawberry Daiquiris.  Anusha from Bhakti's Delight will be there with a selection of spring rolls, chillie bites, samoosas and curry and rice. Browse through our Lipizzaner shop before the performance (open from 9.30am) and stock up on the latest warm clothing for winter, fleecy sweaters, beanies and quilted body warmers.  And don't forget to come and see our large range of second hand books.  Tickets through Computicket or at the door.

KEP COMPLETED PROJECTS

If you would like to keep updated on the KEP projects underway or completed or planned,
please see the Projects link on the GHS Website.  
In the meantime, we're pleased to advise you of the following project updates :

The two new Stable Blocks are almost complete - we now have a total of 230 competition stables.

Next projects include the upgrade of the Staff Quarters and the installation of a new warm-up arena for the Bob Charter.

We are also looking at the resurfacing of the Peter Minne arena.

GHS CENTRAL SHOWING

Calling all Showing enthusiasts, from any discipline, any level, joins us at our clinic on the Sunday 4^th July 2010, just before inter-regionals, and inter school finals, come learn with us:

riders will learn what judges are looking for (bring your horses)
·spectators will learn what judges are looking for  (prize for the spectator closest to the judge)
grooms will learn how to turn out (prizes for the best grooms)
·bring a picnic lunch
 learn from the experts on DVD in the afternoon

Please 'enter' as soon as possible, entries close on 28^th June 2010, as we need to plan the classes properly and wish to maximise what we can include and places will be limited.

LUNGING CLINIC WITH DIETMAR OTTO

An 'A' licensed German Instructor, coach and FEI judge, Dietmar Otto will be in South Africa in June and will be holding a lunging clinic on Thursday 24^th June. This is a neglected area in equestrian sport and we will be offering this as a certified clinic for anyone who would like to improve their lunging skills.
