GHS is presenting a weekend of fun and entertainment, plus some serious competition at the

2010 HORSE AND HOUND SHOW

at Kyalami Equestrian Park this coming weekend (24/25 July)

There will be,for the horse enthusiasts,

Eventing Classic Finals - come and watch the showjumpers competing against the eventers - a guaranteed fun event;

Showing Classes, and the prestigious FEI CHILDRENS SHOWJUMPING COMPETITION.

And for the DOG LOVERS ...

bring along your 'best friends' and join us for a Dog Walk on Sunday morning (registration in the Bernhard McHardy Arena at 09h00 - walk starts at 09h30). The walk will have break-off points for the less fit -maximum 5km.

And that's not all...
there will be Puppy Socialising in the Stubbs Arena at approximately 11h00.

And that's not all ...

if you think you have the cutest/ugliest/smallest/prettiest/biggest pooch,
enter the Dog Show which will start at approximately 11h30 next to the Clubhouse.

GHS is working on a new exciting Development Programme that will require closer monitoring of the progress of EDS riders with the view to giving more assistance where earned.

Trophies Update

GHS is putting in a new system of managing the numerous trophies, and we need your help with bringing it all up to date. Please could those of our members who currently have a GHS trophy in their possession, take a photograph of it, and e-mail the photo to reception@ghsinfo.co.za with a notation of the name of the trophy, and the date won. We also appeal to those of you who still hold trophies which duration has expired, to return these trophies urgently (e.g. for Youth Festival) to the GHS Office. We are regrettably going to have to introduce a 'black book' for members who habitually don't return trophies, and these members will not be permitted to take home trophies in future.

Jannie Putter is back due to popular demand!

GHS is delighted to advise that we have secured Blue Bulls Mental Fitness Coach, Jannie Putter,
to run the following two courses for our members.
Those who have already attended Jannie's courses have raved about how much they learned and benefited.

We can only accept 22 candidates, so BOOK EARLY to AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!

LEADERSHIP COURSE:

The course consists of 4 sessions which take place every second week, commencing Monday 02 August 2010 7.00pm. Each session is approximately 1.5 hrs long

The theme will be the understanding and development of principles (laws) of leadership in our personal lives, relationships and coaching.

It will take the form of teaching and practical application thereof.

The cost for this training will be R500 per session for members. Non-Members R600 per session.

MENTORSHIP COURSE:

This will take place on a weekly basis on a Wednesday-evening from 6pm - 7pm, commencing 04 August 2010. The duration of this course is approximately 3 months.

This will focus on developing and training of basic life & communication skills, public conduct and best decision-making resulting in a strong self-image, development of self-confidence and personal leadership.

The cost for this training will be R350 per child per session for members and R375 per child per session for non-members.

CALLING ALL COACHES AND RIDERS

MAKE USE OF THE KEP INDOOR ARENA!!

Do you know that you can hire the Indoor Arena for lessons in the afternoon or evening?
Cost R120.00 per hour.

DO YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO JUMP A PRACTICE ROUND AT KEP?

Had a bad round or just want some mileage?

Mondays after a show, one of the arenas which have been used will remain open for riders to train over the course. The heights of the jumps may be changed, but please no distances may be altered. (Unfortunately this will not apply to the Bob Charter Arena). Cost R100.00 per half an hour

The date for this FEI Level 2 Coaches Course to be held at KEP, Gauteng has changed to 28 July - 02 August.
There is a query with the FEI because the course must run over 7 days, and the above dates only provide for 6 days.

In the interests of advance warning and communication, I am sending this out so that everyone can plan accordingly, but please note that the course may start one day earlier or finish one day later than the dates above.

"GROW DRESSAGE WITH A JUDGE"...

A perfect opportunity to ride a test of your choice, be judged and then be given time to discuss your test with the judge concerned. Riders are then encouraged to "re-ride" the test with the aim of improving their marks and comments!

Each time slot is 15min at a cost of R150.00 each.

This is not graded and no points are awarded.

Bookings will not be accepted without proof of payment.

Dressage Clinic for Prelim and Novice Tests -
7^th August 2010 - Main Dressage Arena KEP

An opportunity to spend an informal, fun filled and educational few hours learning how to prepare yourself and your pony/horse for your next dressage show.

*Come join us for an afternoon on Saturday 7^th Aug, 2pm, to learn what the judges are looking for in your Prelim and Novice Dressage Tests.

*'Be the judge' - you will be shown how to score a dressage sheet and six opportunities to put it into immediate practice!
