GAUTENG HORSE SOCIETY

ENTRY LEVEL MEMBERSHIP

What is the ENTRY LEVEL MEMBERSHIP?
The ENTRY LEVEL MEMBERSHIP is an exciting form of membership which was introduced in 2003 as a lower level than full membership. The reason for this is to make membership with The Gauteng Horse Society more affordable, to offer a larger variety of levels for our current members and to offer a service to those who wish to be members but are still new to the sport. Our intention is to encourage those who ride in the lower levels to become more competitive.

What will it cost me?
The cost for this membership is minimal. With these fees you will receive mailing from us every month informing you of up coming shows with their schedules, allowing you to enter and compete at recognised shows as well as the GHS newsletters. A complete breakdown is provided in our PRICE LIST

Does my horse have to be registered?
Yes, all competing horses must be correctly registered. (See process on Horse Registration Form).

Can I compete at entry level if I am already a member?
Most definitely! You may not compete in a higher level than that of your membership type but you may always compete at a lower level.

How will I benefit?
You will benefit by firstly receiving all entry level membership schedules by post and by being able to attend well organised shows that are run regularly and professionally by GHS and its affiliated bodies. Experienced riders will be able to start their young horses at lower levels than is currently the case.

Who is this aimed at?
Anyone who is not a member of GHS who would like to enjoy the benefits of membership and become a competitor in the official equestrian environment.

What disciplines does this include?
Each Discipline has been catered for and the list below will specify what you may enter as an Entry Level Member:

Showjumping:
Adult and Junior:  70cm - 80cm
Pony Rider:  50cm - 60cm

Can I upgrade my Membership?
Most definitely, and at any time you wish. All you will need to do is choose which type of membership you would like to upgrade to, fill in a new registration form and pay the difference. Please note that once the pro-rata fee kicks in the difference will not be deducted.

Can I vote as an Entry Level Member?
You can vote for your regional committees only, which represent the 6 regions:
-Gauteng Central,
-Gauteng North,
-Gauteng East,
-Gauteng South,
-Gauteng West,
-Limpopo
