GAUTENG HORSE SOCIETY

FULL PARTICIPATING MEMBERSHIP

What is the FULL MEMBERSHIP?
The FULL MEMBERSHIP is one step up from the Entry Level Membership and the final level. Here you will start to compete at more difficult levels and start to face more difficult challenges. However the grades allow you to work your way up gradually, when you have achieved the required points and feel you are ready. Points are gained at this level within each discipline.

What will it cost me?
The costs for this membership is higher than that of Entry Level memberships as the administration becomes more involved. With these fees you will receive mailing from us every month informing you of up coming shows with their schedules allowing you to enter and compete at recognised shows as well as the GHS newsletters. A complete breakdown is provided in our PRICE LIST

What is the Entrance Fee?
The entrance fee is a once off payment you will need to pay and will never be charged again as long as your membership remains paid up with us. If you allow your membership to lapse you will be charged the Entrance Fee again.

Does my horse have to be registered?
Yes, your horse does need to be registered as we need to capture his/her details on our database in order to allocate points.

Can I compete in Entry Level classes if I am already a Full member?
Most definitely! You may not compete in a higher level than that of your membership type but you may always compete at a lower level. As a Full Member you are only restricted to your horse's grade but not to a membership level. Since Entry Level members do not need to register their horses these classes are also open to graded horses. The reason for this is to allow for a new rider to become used to a new horse or for a horse which may have lost its confidence to be given a gentle boost. However you may not compete on one horse in a lower level, and its allocated grade, in the coinciding class at the same show e.g. AF Welcome Stakes & AE Welcome Stakes. You may,for example, enter an AF Welcome Stakes and an AE Competition at the same show.

How will I benefit?
You will benefit by firstly receiving all schedules by post and by being able to attend well-organised shows that are run regularly and professionally by GHS and its affiliated bodies. Horses/Riders have the opportunity of progressing through the grades and setting ultimate goals.

Who is this aimed at?
Anyone who is not a member of GHS who would like to enjoy the benefits of membership and become a competitor in the official equestrian environment.

What disciplines does this include?
As a full member you may compete in all Disciplines and in all grades. You are only restricted to the grade your horse has acheived for a specific Discipline.

Is there a pro-rata fee for Full Membership?
Yes, this happens on the 1 February and changes every month, new year fees payable as of 1 June each year. For pro-rata fees you will need to contact our office (011) 702-1657

Can I vote?
Yes, as long as you are 18 years of age, you have full voting rights and may vote at the AGM.

If you have any further queries please contact us on grading@thsinfo.co.za or phone us on (011) 702-1657
