HORSE REGISTRATION
The most important part of the team. The one who does most of the work. Our friend and gentle steed. The horse.
He/She too needs to be registered. Once you start to compete, we need to allocate the points to your horse in order for you to move through the grades. All disciplines points go to the horse and not the riders except for Equitation & Vaulting - therefore he must be registered.
By registering the horse we can compile data not only for points purposes but to gather information on the horse's history, breeding, age, previous owners and previous levels of competition.
All owners who register horses with us will need to provide us with the horse's previous owner's signature. We know these are sometimes hard to come by and have therefore provided you with the option of an affidavit if the signature is not available.
All ponies registered, or horses that wish to do showing, must provide us with a height certificate.
A horse is classified as a pony if it measures no more than 1.50m. All ponies that are registered with us are, under SANEF regulations, required to produce an Official Height Certificate which must be in the Ponies passport. A Ponies registration will not be accepted without a certificate.
Height certificates can be done by GHS or a vet. There are 3 types of height certificates
* Temporary- issued to ponies /horses under the age of 7 and valid for 1 year.
* Permanent - issued to ponies/horses who are 7 years and over and valid until change of owner.
* Life - issued to ponies/horses who are 7 years and over and do not expire but can only be issued by GHS or another Provincial Body.
Some ponies look very big, and these ponies could be called up on a query for re-measuring, this is why we always suggest that if you have a maximum height pony (1.50m) you obtain a life certificate through us. If your pony has a Life Certificate it cannot be called up on a query and will not be required to be re-measured on change of owner.
If you would like your pony/horse measured by us (at no charge to members) please phone the office and book - (011)702-1657. (Please note that the transportation of your pony/horse to our offices is for your account)
