PONY RIDERS

Persons are classified as Pony Riders and are eligible to take part in Pony Rider competitions from birth until the end of the year during which they reach the age of 15.

Pony Rider classes are restricted to Pony Riders and Juniors riding ponies measuring 1.50m and under.
All ponies that are registered with us are, under SANEF regulations, required to produce an Official Height Certificate, which must be in the pony's passport. A pony's registration will not be accepted without a certificate.

Height certificates can be done by GHS or a vet. There are 3 types of height certificates

    * Temporary- issued to ponies /horses under the age of 7 and valid for 1 year.
    * Permanent - issued to ponies/horses who are 7 years and over and valid until change of owner.
    * Life - issued to ponies/horses who are 7 years and over and do not expire but can only be issued by GHS or another Provincial Body.

Some ponies look very big, and these ponies could be called up on a query for re-measuring. This is why we always suggest that if you have a maximum height pony (1.50m) you obtain a life certificate through us. If your pony has a Life Certificate it cannot be called up on a query, and will not be required to be re-measured on change of owner.

If you would like your pony/horse measured by us (at no charge to members) please phone the office and book - (011) 702-1657. (Please note that the transportation of your pony/horse to our offices for your account.)
